Attitude

I collect "Blue Boy". This is only one I've found so far. I set him along the wall until I find a place for him. When I saw it this morning it's a though he's looking at me with attitude saying "lady this is not for me" "you better find me a better spot!".

My thrift store finds!

I decided to go thrift store hunting.  I went to the local senior community town.  They have four or five thrifts stores right next to each other.  I probably spend $12 total for all this stuff!  It was 50% off day at all of the shops!  I'm going to sort through all of it and make swap packs.   I don't need it all.  I got ledger paper, old sewing patterns, books, music books, fax paper, fasteners, tabs, reinforcement circles, stencils, and two vintage fabric pieces.  One of the artist of junk journals uses clip art of her vintage linens, which are so cool.  I plan to fax most of the stuff to have digital images to print if needed.    It was a fun day.  I even found a monopoly game for $1  All the pieces are there.  I honestly hate to play Monopoly so I'm going to break it up to use in my junk journals.

Junk Journal Ephemera

I found a post on Craigslist for a garage sale advertising they had ephemera!  I headed over and boy did he have ephemera, tons of stuff!  I didn't even know where to start.  I checked out his books, he really didn't have a lot of books but he wanted $1 each, I was kinda surprised but they were nice books.  He had magazines, records, electronics, newspapers, and lots of vintage papers.  Everything I picked  out he mention how rare or expensive it was...ugh.  So I went to a smaller box of various papers and started to sort through them.  Omg!  so cool.  I showed his this railroad receipt book, he said all the railroad stuff is expensive!  So I'm thinking my $20 isn't gonna go far as his prices!  He didn't have anything marked and I don't like to barter at garage sales.  Because most of the time things are priced cheap to get rid of.  i got a small pile of stuff and five books for $10 and I said "cool" and then he said I should of said $15 knowing you aren't gonna barter!  My impression is he was not having a garage sale to empty out his garage but to kill some time and see what he could make.  He did tell me he was a dealer.  The other thing he told me was his wife makes junk journals with all this cool stuff.

2017 Summer Road Trip - Travel log entry #1

I've been on a long road trip and did so many fun things, saw really cool things and visited with great friends.

One of the best things we did was stop at antique shops all along the way.  Here's a collections of photos from the antique stops.  We found some treasures and saw some very unique and interesting things.  I was able to add to my vintage camera collection, found the coolest butcher paper cutter, found some vintage ledgers, and a few Blue Boy and Pinkie prints.  This was so much fun and I love antiquing with my sister!

Monday thoughts...

I go to antique stores, thrift stores and vintage shops all the time.  I take photos of things all the time for mainly for ideas.   I usually don't buy stuff until I know I have a specific spot for it in my house.  My house is not big and everything seems to have a place.   So I would have to move things around or get rid of something to make room for something new.   I'm in the middle of redoing most of our living space.  I like old things and plan to use my stash of collected antique and vintage items throughout the house now.  I've had most stored in my garage...lol.

I have a number of vintage quilt tops in my collection and I thought this would be a cool way to to use them.  I also have a few pieces my Mom has given me.  I think I even have a few holiday quilt color tops.

I love this wooden cubby shelf unit.  I think I can make one.  

One thing you always see at any shop is kitchen ware...tons of that shit.

Not sure why I didn't buy these springs!  I used them for christmas decor last year.

I love wooden boxes, tool boxes, any wooden box.

I don't normally look at jewelry because there's so much of it and I have no patience.  But recently I my sister showed me some cool stuff at very reasonable prices.  I got two rings for less that $5!  Way cool.  So from now on I'm gonna take the time to rummage through it.

This was an interesting piece, the drawers had wood fronts and metal sides.  

 Thrifting and antiquing is one of most favorite things to do!

CHESTER'S ANTIQUES HOME & GARDEN 

LEXINGTON, NEBRASKA

We were told about this shop off the Lexington I-80 exit.  It's on the south side frontage road going heading east.  It was closed by the time we got there, so of course we had to return!

 Once again. if you find yourself traveling along I-80 and come near the Lexington, Nebraska  exit, take it and check out this cool shop.  I know you'll find some a ton of things you'd have to have!

Nebraska Farmhouse Antiques & Coffee House - Arnold, NE

Last year we stumble in to this antique shop and have been back a number of times. 

It's full of many cool antiques and vintage things. In addition, there's coffee.

Each time we go we find the coolest things.  This trip was all about jewelry pieces.  One regret was I didn't have any of my pieces to show her in person.  We checked out my Facebook JOBI page and she was interested in seeing more and maybe even selling some of my pieces in her shop.
